Patios, walkways and driveways engineered from the ground up. Choose a look you love, then trust a base built to outlast the freeze-thaw — no heaving, no sinking, no regrets.
Every yard has a personality. Start with a theme — we'll tailor the stone, pattern and palette from there.
Anyone can lay a pretty stone. Lasting patios are won underground. Switch the application to see exactly how we build — and how deep we dig.
¾" crushed stone, compacted in lifts
The structural heart of the job. Compacted in 3″ lifts to 98% — depth scales with load.
Stamped concrete is the alternative most GTA homeowners weigh against interlock. It can be a little cheaper upfront and gives a seamless poured look — but it's a single slab, and our winters are unkind to slabs. Here's the honest side-by-side so you can decide with eyes open.
| Interlocking | Stamped concrete | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Mid–high; priced by the square foot | Often slightly less upfront |
| GTA freeze-thaw | Flexes with frost — individual units move, nothing cracks | A monolithic slab — frost heave cracks it |
| Repairs | Lift & re-set individual pavers — the repair disappears | Cracks are hard to fix; patches and colour never quite match |
| Lifespan | 30–40+ years; fully re-levelable | 15–25 years; needs resurfacing as colour and seal wear |
| Look & options | Huge range of colours, formats and laying patterns | Seamless poured surface that can mimic stone or brick |
| Maintenance | Re-sand joints occasionally; seal optional | Re-seal every 2–3 years or the colour fades |
| Resale perception | Reads as premium hardscape — higher perceived value | Looks good, but still reads as concrete |
Bottom line: for the GTA freeze-thaw cycle we build in interlock — it won't crack, and any settling is fixable paver-by-paver rather than ripped out and re-poured. Stamped concrete can be the right call when a seamless monolithic look matters more to you than long-term repairability. We'll give you the straight answer for your project.
Natural stone — flagstone and armour stone — is the timeless third path: every piece unique, no two installs alike. It's a premium step beyond manufactured pavers.

Read guideProperly installed interlocking pavers last 25–30+ years in GTA conditions. The pavers themselves are virtually indestructible — rated for 8,000+ PSI compressive strength. The most common issues are related to base settlement (from improper installation) or polymeric sand degradation (normal maintenance).
Minimal movement is normal and the interlocking system accommodates it without damage. This is actually an advantage over poured concrete, which cracks under the same forces. Excessive heaving indicates insufficient base depth or poor compaction — not a paver issue.
Polymeric sand is a specially engineered sand that hardens when activated with water, locking pavers together and inhibiting weed growth. It typically lasts 3–5 years before needing top-up in high-traffic areas. This is normal maintenance, not a defect.
Yes. Permeable interlocking pavers allow water to infiltrate through the joints into a stone reservoir beneath, reducing stormwater runoff. Some GTA municipalities offer rebates or reduced development charges for permeable paver installations.
