The energy-efficient single-ply membrane system trusted by GTA property owners.
TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) has become the fastest-growing flat roofing membrane in the Greater Toronto Area, and for good reason. This single-ply membrane combines energy efficiency, chemical resistance, and hot-air welded seams that create a monolithic waterproof surface across your entire roof. For GTA commercial buildings, multi-unit residential properties, and homes with flat or low-slope sections, TPO delivers exceptional performance at a competitive price point. The white reflective surface meets Ontario Energy Code requirements and can reduce cooling costs by 20–30% during increasingly hot GTA summers. TPO's heat-welded seams are stronger than the membrane itself — a critical advantage over EPDM's glued seams, particularly in the freeze-thaw cycling that Toronto-area roofs endure 40+ times per winter. Buildoreno installs 50-mil and 60-mil TPO systems with manufacturer-backed warranties up to 25 years across the Greater Toronto Area.

We inspect the existing roof deck, drainage, and insulation. We specify membrane thickness, insulation R-value, and attachment method based on building type and wind zone.
Remove existing membrane, inspect and repair deck as needed. For re-roofing, we assess whether a recover board over existing insulation is appropriate.
Install tapered polyiso insulation for positive drainage and required R-value. A high-density cover board protects the membrane from foot traffic and thermal shock.
TPO membrane is mechanically attached or fully adhered, then all seams are hot-air welded. Every weld is tested with a probe to verify integrity.
All penetrations, walls, drains, and edges receive custom-fabricated TPO flashings, welded to the field membrane for a seamless waterproof envelope.
Every Buildoreno estimate is a free, itemized written quote — no hidden line items. Your exact price depends on site conditions, materials, and scope.

A properly installed TPO roof with 60-mil membrane lasts 20–25 years in GTA conditions. The key factors are membrane thickness (we recommend 60-mil minimum), proper insulation, and quality welding. Cheaper 45-mil installations may only last 12–15 years.
For most GTA applications, TPO offers advantages: heat-welded seams (vs EPDM's glued seams), energy-efficient reflective surface, and better chemical resistance. EPDM has a longer track record and slightly better cold-weather flexibility, but TPO's welded seams perform better through freeze-thaw cycles.
Yes, but with precautions. TPO can be welded down to about -5°C with adjusted equipment settings. In a GTA winter, we schedule welding for the warmest part of the day and use equipment calibrated for cold conditions. Membrane unrolling is done carefully to prevent cold cracking.
White is the standard and most energy-efficient choice for the GTA. Grey and tan options are available for aesthetic reasons, but white delivers the best solar reflectance and longest lifespan. For residential flat sections not visible from ground level, white is always recommended.
