About this project

This project demonstrates a total site conversion, taking a sloped, high-maintenance backyard and transforming it into a sophisticated, functional outdoor living area. By removing failing turf and addressing uneven terrain, we created a durable space designed for both aesthetics and longevity. Core Improvements Custom Interlocking Patio: We installed a raised, multi-tonal grey paver patio as the primary focal point. The design features a striking charcoal soldier course border, providing a clean, architectural finish that defines the seating area. Low-Maintenance Ground Cover: To eliminate mud and standing water, we replaced the patchy lawn with premium river rock. This not only adds a modern, textured look but also significantly improves site drainage and removes the need for mowing. Precision Engineering: The patio was meticulously leveled and wrapped around existing mature trees and decorative boulders. This "nature-first" approach preserves the yard’s established character while providing a perfectly flat surface for furniture and entertaining. Technical Specifications Sub-Base: Full excavation with a reinforced, compacted aggregate foundation to prevent shifting during freeze-thaw cycles. Materials: High-density concrete pavers with UV-resistant pigments and erosion-proof polymeric joint sand. Drainage: Integration of permeable river rock zones to manage runoff and protect the home’s foundation.
