Bring natural light into dark interior rooms without sacrificing the integrity of your roof — engineered flashing, certified install, no-leak guarantee.
Adding a skylight is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform a dark interior — a single well-placed skylight in a hallway, bathroom, or stair well can deliver more usable daylight than two large windows on an exterior wall. The catch is that every skylight is a hole in your roof, and skylight leaks are the most common roofing service call we get. The difference between a skylight that performs for 25+ years and one that leaks in three is almost entirely about flashing detail and installation technique — not the skylight unit itself. Buildoreno installs VELUX, FAKRO, and Sun-Tek skylights across the GTA on both flat and sloped roofs. Every installation includes engineered curb flashing, weather-shield wrap, and the same TPO or EPDM membrane work we use for full flat roof replacements. We strongly recommend installing skylights during a planned roof replacement rather than retrofitting them later — the cost is significantly lower and the roof warranty stays cleaner.

We assess interior dark zones, roof structure (rafter spacing, slope, existing membrane), and the best skylight size and placement for the daylight you want.
Choose fixed, vented, or operable; manual, electric, or solar; with or without integrated blinds. Building permits aren't required for skylight replacement but ARE required for new openings — we handle either path.
Roof structure cut to spec, framed curb installed at the new opening height. Engineered for snow load and wind uplift.
Manufacturer-spec curb flashing system — base flashing, step flashing, head flashing — installed in the correct sequence with weather-shield wrap.
Skylight set onto the curb, flashing tied into the surrounding roof membrane, sealed and inspected.
Drywall shaft built up to the interior ceiling, primed and painted to match, optional integrated blinds wired or remote-paired.
Every Buildoreno estimate is a free, itemized written quote — no hidden line items. Your exact price depends on site conditions, materials, and scope.

Properly installed skylights with engineered curb flashing and ice-and-water shield wrap don't leak — even through aggressive freeze-thaw and ice damming. Leaks happen when the flashing system is shortcut, when the curb is too low, or when membrane tie-in is incomplete. Buildoreno installs to manufacturer spec on every project — our skylight installations come with a 5-year written labour warranty in addition to the manufacturer's 10-year glazing warranty.
Yes. Standalone skylight installs are common when the existing roof has plenty of service life left. We cut the opening, build the curb, install the flashing system, and tie into the existing membrane. The installation creates a localized warranty area on the new section — we provide that warranty in writing.
Modern triple-pane skylights with low-E coatings actually outperform standard windows on energy efficiency per square foot. Vented or operable skylights also provide passive ventilation that can significantly reduce summer AC load — heat rises and escapes naturally through the top of the home. Net energy impact is usually neutral to positive.
